Our client is a multi-specialty medical practice seeking a Medical Billing Specialist.
SALARY/HOURLY RATE:
$25/hr
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Medical Billing Specialist is responsible for accurate and timely submission, posting, and reconciliation of medical claims. This Medical Billing Specialist role includes reviewing patient accounts, verifying insurance coverage, resolving billing discrepancies, and assisting with collections.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE MEDICAL BILLING SPECIALIST:
Prepare and submit electronic and paper insurance claims in a timely manner.
Post payments, adjustments, and denials to patient accounts accurately.
Verify insurance eligibility and benefits for patients prior to appointments.
Research and resolve billing errors or rejected claims.
Manage patient balances and generate statements as needed.
Follow up on unpaid or denied claims to ensure prompt resolution.
Maintain confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Collaborate with front desk, clinical, and administrative teams to ensure accurate billing information.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/SKILLS FOR THE MEDICAL BILLING SPECIALIST:
2+ years of experience in medical billing or accounts receivable within a healthcare setting.
Working knowledge of insurance claim processing and reimbursement procedures.
Familiarity with CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) and billing software systems.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE/SKILLS FOR THE MEDICAL BILLING SPECIALIST:
Experience in a specialty medical practice.
Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and major commercial payer requirements.
Familiarity with clearinghouse claim submission and denial management.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Associate degree or certification in medical billing/coding preferred.
