Job Title: Specimen ProcessorJob Description
Specimen processors take incoming samples and input data into the computer system/create labeling for samples. - Will be handling the enclosed samples with PPE but do not directly touch open swabs/perform tests on the samples. - Receive, identify, label, and process specimens as required for processing. - Labeling of specimen containers, slide(s), and any other materials submitted by the client. - Ability to handle all specimen types. - Multi-task between different types of requisitions. - Maintain departmental production goals to ensure hourly specimen flow to the labs are consistent. - Review, transcribe, and enter demographic and specimen data into the laboratory information system with 100% accuracy. - Recognize specimen problems and refer to designated personnel. - File Requisition Slips, glass slides, and paraffin blocks assisting Laboratory Aide(s) as needed. - Perform supply maintenance and clean-up duties to help workflow and efficiency. - Candidates will be reading and entering data information that come from labels that were previously on specimen bags.
Hard Skills
High school diploma/GED
Passing typing test of at least 7500 keystrokes per hour and 95% accuracy or higher
Previous laboratory experience
Previous overnight experience
Medical scribe experience is a plus
Job TypeThis is a Contract-to-Hire position with a duration of 4 Month(s).Work SiteThis is a fully on-site position in Elmwood Park, New Jersey.Work EnvironmentWill be working in a large specimen processing room. Will be logging the patient information on sample tubes and assuring data is accurate. Work with over 80 people on night shift to support work volume. 90-100% of shift is spent typing and sitting at a computer. Safety precautions will be taken, but there will not be 6 feet social distancing rules applied due to space limitations. PAY: day shift $16.50 & night shift $18.15 (16.50 with 10% differential for overnight hours worked).
