This OpportunityUnder general to minimal supervision, provides inspection support to the Resident Engineer on projects to ensure construction compliance with plans, specifications, contract documents, and codified requirements. Tasks may include developing inspection skills and assisting with field inspections on various construction projects of basic complexity which may include examining the placement of concrete, installation of underground pipelines, earthwork and roadway paving, buildings, structures, systems, building materials, mechanical and electrical installations, foundations, and environment. Generates accurate and concise documentation regarding assigned aspects of the project. Ensures that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards for design, safety, functionality, and sustainability.Your Impact

Under general supervision, assist with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from the physical work site, surveys, structural plans, blueprints, schematics, data, technical drawings, flow diagrams, materials sampling, computer-generated reports, and other matrices for field inspection activities.

Under general supervision, assist with performing basic professional inspections of proposed and existing site conditions, equipment, construction, materials, controls, resources, layout, alignment, and elevation to determine conformance with applicable rules, standards, codes, and construction or operating permits.

Provide basic technical assistance that accounts for the proper inspection, construction, and functioning of buildings, highways, roads, bridges, structures, infrastructure, equipment, and/or mechanical systems according to design standard specifications.

Assist with verifying load calculations, change orders, interpretation of contract plans and specifications, and escalating any differences, errors, or technical problems for appropriate resolution.

Generate complete, accurate, and concise documentation and specifications related to inspection findings using electronic systems, written/oral feedback, photographs, drawings, diagrams, illustrations, spreadsheets, and reports.

Comply with client policies and procedures for inspection work under contract.

Comply with safety guidelines and site-specific procedures which include but are not limited to, location data, statistical documentation, studies and surveys, and construction.

Complete training on assigned tasks.

Exhibit basic knowledge of current field inspection practices.

Work collaboratively with other professionals, scientists, engineers, inspectors, project control, and technicians on assigned inspection phases, checks, and tasks.

Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You AreRequired Qualifications

High School Diploma.

Minimum of 3 years of relevant post education experience in discipline with prior construction inspection experience.

Valid state driver’s license.

Familiar with construction inspection principles, field inspection practices, process, methods and techniques.

Familiar with relevant construction codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.

Excellent research and evaluation skills with analytical mindset.

Capable interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a technical and non-technical audience.

Capable self-leadership with attention to detail, ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instruction, and comply with company policies.

Ability to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.

Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.

Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.

Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

Associate’s Degree in closely related discipline is preferred.

Essential professional licensure/certification.

WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
