Staff Accountant

Description We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a Staff Accountant in Morristown, New Jersey. This role is in the Architecture industry and requires the individual to be highly organized and detail-oriented. The individual will be responsible for a variety of tasks related to accounts payable and accounts receivable.Responsibilities: Monitor and verify W-9 information, Federal ID numbers and purchase orders. Uphold accounting controls by identifying new expenses and cost increases. Monitor AP mailbox weekly for incoming vendor invoices. Record accounting entries for all ACH movements (deposits and payables). Assist in the completion of Vendor Applications as needed. Actively reduce AR through daily routine follow up with clients. Manage incoming collections, accurately record and apply cash deposits. Prepare AR reports, graphs and dashboards to track AR KPI’s for project managers and leadership team. Monitor and understand client purchase order discrepancies. Reconcile required accounts regularly. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field Proven experience in a similar role within the architecture industry Proficiency in Microsoft Excel Strong understanding and experience with Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) Familiarity with bank reconciliations Ability to maintain and manage general ledger Experience with preparing and posting journal entries Knowledge and experience with month end close processes Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong attention to detail and accuracy Ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions based on accurate and timely analyses High level of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.
