Position Details Position Information Recruitment/Posting Title Academic Director of Cytogenetics Laboratory Department NJMS-Pathology Salary Commensurate With Experience Posting Summary The Department of Pathology, Immunology and Laboratory Medicine at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School invites applications for a faculty position at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor level for Director of Cytogenetics. The laboratory is responsible for performance of Cytogenetics services at University Hospital - the school's 519-bed tertiary care core teaching hospital in Newark, NJ as well as the performance of consultative cytogenetics and molecular genetics studies.The successful candidate will provide leadership to the Cytogenetics Laboratory and be responsible for interpretation and reporting of FISH and chromosome analysis. The candidate will interact closely with clinical staff and be an active participant in the educational programs of the Department includingteaching medical students and residents and will be expected to engage in productive researchactivities. The candidate will also assist in the operational management of the Core, contribute toscientific journals and grants and participate in scientific conferences/meetings. Applicants must haveexperience or fellowship training in all aspects of cytogenetics practice, including karyotyping,fluorescence in situ hybridization, test validation and laboratory management. Experience in genomictechnologies, such as comparative genomic hybridization (CGH) and optical genome mapping isstrongly desired. Additionally, candidates with experience in next-generation sequencing, microarrays,and molecular diagnostics who would be able to support activities within our Genomics Center arealso strongly desirable.
