A services company in New Jersey is currently seeking an experienced IT professional to join their staff as their new Mainframe Developer. In this role, the Mainframe Developer will be responsible for investigating system and programming problems, propose solutions and recommend design improvements for increased efficiency.

Responsibilities:

The Mainframe Developer will:

• Handle complex programming assignments and develop mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL,,CICS, Easytrieve, MF utilities,VSAM and DB2
• Analyze product requirements and translate them into detailed system functionality by working with internal organizations and/or clients
• Develop architectural components and standards in support of business requirements
• Create system and program test plans & procedures; develop test data and perform the unit testing ensuring that the programs perform according to program specifications
• Mentor less experienced Programmers in the coding, testing and debugging of application programs
• Handle other duties, as needed

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of technical expertise on Mainframe COBOL, JCL, DB2, and CICS, Easytrieve. etc.
• Associate's and/or Bachelor's Degree in a related field
• TSO and VSAM experience
• Various utilities experience (e.g. SORT, IDCAMs, etc.)
• Knowledge of SDLC processes
• Good and sharp in terms of coding & testing skills
• Great interpersonal skills
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
• Strong attention to detail
• Highly organized

Desired Skills:

• Intertest tool experience
• Familiarity with Job Scheduler (e.g. OPC)
• FTP and NDM knowledge
• Brokerage/Financial Services background
