THIS ROLE CAN BE BASED IN NEWARK, NJ (preferred) - CHICAGO, IL - FRANKLIN,TNJob Purpose:This role is part of the Regional Management Team and is accountable to develop category vision and strategy transforming procurement of Supply Chain areas from tactical to strategic category management. It will develop x-Segment and x-market partnerships with stakeholders; set up implementation roadmap of transformational initiatives reducing total cost of ownership for Mars by 15-25% in 3 years to fuel Growth; improve service, quality, and competitive advantage across the value chain while minimizing risk for the business. It will build relationship with strategic suppliers and improve their performance, contribution to the value delivery and innovation for Mars.This role will create an efficient and recognized internal organization: step up category expertise, leadership and functional capabilities of commercial talent toward best industry practices.The successful candidate will be part of the global x-segment leadership team and leads a team of regional strategic sourcing managers and a strategic operations director. The position plays a key role in driving regional senior leader (segment presidents and their respective teams) stakeholder engagement for the respective logistics categories.Key Responsibilities:Accountable for leadership, great line management and high level of engagement of commercial associates in Supply Chain / Logistics team across NA + LA markets (5 direct reports / total team of 10, plus, 7 @ LATAM Logistics category team coaching/strategic direction)

Develops and deliver effective and efficient category organization: develop category expertise, functional and leadership capabilities, deliver and continuously improves organization efficiencies, maximizes value creation and competitive advantage opportunities.

Accountable to step up performance and business impact: leads development, business alignment and subsequent execution of categories strategies through annual operating plan bringing competitive advantage and reducing total cost of ownership by 4-5%+ annually.

Establishes and maintains business partnership relationship with key regional stakeholders (Functional Regional Heads at VP / President level) to ensure deep understanding of functional needs and strategies and generation of maximum business value from commercial strategies, securing sponsorship for flawless execution of required internal or external changes.

Leads development and enhancement of industry best practices across SC categories including improvement of processes, systems, tools and specifications

Accountable for development of knowledge management and analytics: understanding of industry trends, total value chain, cost/ price drivers, suppliers and competitors to ensure generation of TCO and Value advantages to Mars.

Builds commercial ownership for relationship development with strategic suppliers: leads reduction of supply base by 20-30%, negotiation of competitive terms and contracts, secures competitive advantage, and enables access to innovative and value creation solutions from suppliers capabilities ahead of competitors.

Working closely with Global team, this role is responsible to shape global category strategy, given NALA regional spend accounts for more than 50% of total global Mars spend for logistics.

Leads supplier performance and contract compliance – provides regular financial, service and quality forecasts and updates to appropriate functional executives.

Coaches and leads associates to shift from tactical to strategic work using existing frameworks or tools (MSSM, MLC) or contributing to development of new ones (guided buying).

Accountable for compliance and enhancement of proper procedures, policies, systems and controls, manages approvals and governance.

Develops and influences internal and external regional strategies with regional management and legislative bodies as necessary

Represents Strategic sourcing as part of the Regional MGS Commercial Leadership Team

Context and Scope:Covers $1.2B+ controlled spend across Warehousing, 3PL, Industrial Real Estate, Road and Rail Transportation, Ocean Freight, Pallets, Small Parcel and control tower

15+ Senior stakeholders at VP / President and GM level.

Impact: $200M+ in cost optimization and value creation (3 – 5 years)

X- Segment: Confectionery, Petcare, Food, Multi-Sales and Royal Canin

Number of supported sites: 40 across 52 countries.

External contacts: GM/ VP/ Key-Accounts/ Owners.

Internal stakeholders: VP / Sr SC Directors/ CFOs.

Planning horizon: 5 years.

Job Specifications/Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree / Master’s degree preferred

Fluent in English

10-15 years of professional experience across at least two commercial job families including sourcing

10+ years of Logistics Category experience
