About the Position
Spectraserv Inc. is a family-owned business that offers waste hauling, processing, and construction services. We’ve been in business for over 60 years. With a team of 80 dedicated employees, we pride ourselves on delivering exceptional service and maintaining a supportive work environment.
We are seeking a highly-capable staff accountant to join our team. We manage the accounting for several growing businesses, all owned by one family. This is a dynamic role and will require a person who can wear multiple hats and can switch between tasks easily. The ideal candidate will have experience in all accounting functions and be team player, willing to help where needed.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform general ledger account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data.
Prepare and post journal entries in accordance with company policies and accounting standards.
Complete bank reconciliations to verify and balance financial transactions.
Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation and explanations.
Support A/P, A/R, and payroll. Experience with certified payrolls is a plus.
File 1099s and sales & use taxes in multiple states.
Handle ad-hoc projects and tasks as assigned by the Controller or CFO.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Strong Excel skills a must.
Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
