Overview: We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Morning Prep Cook to join our team at Efi's Gyro, a popular gyro restaurant known for its delicious flavors and welcoming atmosphere. The Morning Prep Cook will be vital in preparing ingredients and ensuring our kitchen is ready for a successful day of service.
Key Responsibilities:
Food Preparation:
Cook rice according to recipes and ensure proper seasoning.
Chop and prepare vegetables for salads, sides, and toppings.
Bake pies and pastries, ensuring they are fresh and ready for service.
Sauce Preparation:
Make various sauces, dips, and dressings according to standardized recipes.
Ensure all sauces are stored properly and labeled for easy access.
Inventory Management:
Receive and organize food supplies, ensuring proper storage.
Monitor the freshness of produce and report any spoilage or inventory needs.
Sanitation and Safety:
Maintain a clean and organized prep area, following all food safety and sanitation guidelines.
Properly handle and store food items to prevent cross-contamination.
Support for Kitchen Staff:
Assist line cooks during busy periods by providing prepared ingredients and helping with plating.
Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations throughout the shift.
Equipment Maintenance:
Safely operate and maintain kitchen equipment, ensuring cleanliness and functionality.
Report any equipment issues to the kitchen manager promptly.
Qualifications:
Previous experience in a kitchen environment is required.
Basic knife skills and understanding of food preparation techniques.
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow recipes accurately.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Flexibility to work early mornings, including weekends and holidays as needed.
