Job description:
Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Medical Laboratory Technician to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate should possess a strong background in operating and maintaining Siemens Immulite 2000 and Beckman Coulter Access 2 instruments, along with expertise in COVID testing procedures and ELISA equipment operation. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in our laboratory operations, contributing to accurate patient diagnoses and high-quality healthcare.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, troubleshoot issues, and perform routine maintenance as needed.
Adhere to quality control and quality assurance procedures to maintain accuracy and reliability of test results.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment, following all safety protocols and procedures.
Document all procedures, results, and observations accurately in accordance with laboratory protocols.
Collaborate with the laboratory team to ensure efficient workflow and timely reporting of results.
Stay up-to-date with industry developments, emerging technologies, and best practices in medical laboratory technology.
- Conduct laboratory tests and experiments in a research laboratory setting
- Perform PCR, DNA isolation, RNA extraction, and other molecular biology techniques
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and protocols
- Record and analyze data using laboratory information management systems (LIMS)
- Assist in the development and optimization of new laboratory assays
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure smooth workflow and timely completion of projects
- Maintain accurate records of experiments, results, and observations
Qualifications:
Associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or a related field.
Certified Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) preferred.
Minimum of 1 year of experience operating Siemens Immulite 200 and Beckman Coulter Access 2 instruments.
Experience preferrable in performing COVID testing procedures, including molecular and serological techniques.
Experience with ELISA equipment operation and related assays.
Strong understanding of laboratory safety protocols and quality control measures.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and specimen handling.
Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Flexibility to work as required.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific field (e.g., Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology)
- Previous experience working in a clinical laboratory setting is preferred
- Familiarity with laboratory information management systems for data management
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow protocols accurately
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members
