Job Description

Summary

This role encompasses a diverse range of mechanical maintenance tasks across all trades. It focuses on installing and servicing heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems. Responsibilities include equipment installation and repair, HVAC troubleshooting and maintenance, electrical installations and repairs, refrigeration diagnostics and fixes, and other mechanical tasks as assigned. The HVAC Foreman also oversees, trains, and monitors field employees in HVAC operations.

Essential Functions

Manage a team of 7-10 employees, demonstrating leadership by motivating and inspiring team members, providing input for performance evaluations, and conducting thorough performance reviews.

Layout, cut, shape, and assemble ductwork by hand or using tools such as plasma machines, hydraulic shears, mechanical or hydraulic brakes, and other equipment. Inspect assemblies for accuracy and wrap/line with insulation or duct liner.

Drill, punch, and fasten metal components using various methods including Pittsburg machines, air hammers, welds, bolts, rivets, solder, and caulks.

Plan, schedule, and supervise skilled and unskilled workers, ensuring timely completion of tasks, and conducting regular inspections of work progress.

Provide daily updates to management through detailed reports and meetings, and ensure all required reports and paperwork are completed accurately and on time.

Check and maintain HVAC equipment, troubleshoot electric, electronic, and DDC control systems, and make recommendations on repairs or replacements. Install new equipment and respond promptly to emergencies, coordinating with contractors as needed.

Collaborate with external HVAC contractors for warranty and service needs, and provide staff training on system operation.

Maintain and repair equipment and shop, handle inventory and supply requisitions, and ensure adherence to safety regulations and work standards.

Perform additional duties as assigned by management, and actively participate in meetings and company functions.

Required Education and Experience

5-7 years of duct fabrication experience with a strong background in layout, cutting, shaping, and assembling ductwork.

At least 1 year of experience in a management position, demonstrating leadership and team supervision skills.

OSHA Certification to ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards.

Self-starter with the ability to work independently, requiring minimal supervision.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position manages all employees of the department and is responsible for the performance management of the employees within that department.

Work Environment

This role demands heavy lifting and constant physical activities.

Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision and hearing

Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.

Requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching.

Requires the ability to lift, carry, push or pull medium weights, up to 75 pounds.

Requires activities involving being around moving machinery, exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity and exposure to dust, fumes and gases.

Requires driving and operating equipment.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Must be flexible to work nights and weekends as needed.

Travel

As needed for work related assignments, training, or meetings.
