Intermodal Dispatcher
Newark NJ based trucking company looking for a dispatcher for afternoon shift. Mon to Fri 12 to 8pm, but must be able to work 6am-3pm shift to cover if and when needed.
Responsibilities:
Coordinate container moves in/out of Newark ports
Ensure drivers have proper paperwork and credentials prior to departure
Ensure that shipping data is entered into the system timely and accurately
Communicates dispatch instructions and expectations to drivers
Communicates driver issues to supervisors and management and assists with resolution
Provide leadership, accountability and support to assigned drivers
Adhere to company, state and federal DOT/OSHA/FMCSA requirements
Provide customer support as needed, answering questions and addressing needs
Field calls, emails, and texts from drivers to answer any questions that may have such as route questions, pick-up or delivery instructions, and/or in-transit issues that may arise.
The ideal candidate will have: Experience in NY/NJ port dispatching. (Willing to train the right candidate.) MUST be able to work morning and or afternoon shift when needed. MUST BE FLEXIBLE
Skills:
Dispatch experience in NY/NJ Ports and steamship lines preferred, but not required. We will train the right candidate.
Able to work independently and in a team-oriented environment
Basic knowledge of local routes, interstates highway and cities
Knowledge of dispatching with an ability to project driver arrival times
The ability to work and communicate with multiple departments and a variety of personnel – both internal and external
Analytical and detail-oriented mindset
Ability to learn and use multiple software systems
