Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Program Manager for the Brain Health Institute within Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in the Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences.The primary purpose of the Program Manager is to manage the research and administrative functions of BHI-administered faculty and staff. The Program Manager will be responsible for managing the Pre-Award function for all grants and contracts associated with sponsored research at the Rutgers Brain Health Institute and its centers. This includes supervising a grant administrator, identifying potential funding opportunities and ensuring that BHI-administered faculty and staff perform timely application preparation, assembly, and submission using the Rutgers Research Administration and Proposal Submission System (RAPSS). In order to supervise BHI staff and advise faculty, they will demonstrate knowledge of submission of grant applications, including preparation and assembly of required Rutgers, Federal, State and Foundation grant materials. Must be capable of quickly learning and adjusting to external and internal grant software systems. In addition, the Program Manager will be involved in the decision-making process of BHI and its centers, including managing faculty recruitment and hosting BHI events. The Program Manager will supervise the BHI program coordinator for marketing and communication and be responsible for developing scientific content for BHI. They will advise the BHI Director and Executive Director of Administration to achieve BHI vision and mission and help implement the new BHI strategic plan goals. The Program Manager must have a broad knowledge of neuroscience and/or brain health research and a desire to promote bench to bedside research.Among the key duties of this position are the following:Decide appropriate Federal and non-Federal Funding opportunities for BHI faculty. Supervise BHI marketing and communication coordinator to ensure dissemination of this information monthly.Provide guidance to faculty, administrators, and other staff on proposal development and grant application requirements for Federal, State, Corporate and other funding agencies.Supervise the BHI grants administrator and manage the timely submission of completed grant applications developed by the Director and other BHI-administered faculty.Monitor/Review research proposals prior to submission to Federal, State, Corporate and other agencies to ensure compliance with university and agency policies and procedures, including those of IACUC, IRB and IBC.Identify and keep an up to date a listing of all shared core facilities and other resources at Rutgers to include in grant applications.Obtain Rutgers neuroscience and brain health research faculty expertise information to keep the expertise directory on BHI website up to date.In consultation with the Director and Executive Director or BHI, manage the planning and implementation of seed/pilot funding schemes and organizing multi-investigator grant applications.In consultation with the Director and Executive Director or BHI, manage BHI faculty recruitment by placing ads on external job boards, screening NIH Reporter to identify potential candidates, supervise BHI staff in arranging virtual and in-person faculty candidate seminars and helping schedule candidate-faculty meetings if requested.Supervise BHI Communication and Marketing Coordinator and develop scientific content to highlight BHI faculty research accomplishments.Responsible for developing skill-based certificate and badging educational programs focused on neuroscience and brain health research by working with BHI faculty and staff. Knowledge of computer programs, including MS Word, Outlook, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Photoshop and Adobe Acrobat.Ability to work with Zoom and Webex virtual meeting platforms.Outstanding human relations and leadership skills and the ability to function in a team environment.Have knowledge and understanding of Federal and State agency regulations, policies, procedures and laws applicable to sponsored program activities.Broad understanding of social media landscape to help develop interesting and engaging scientific content for lay public.Must be able to work under pressure, prioritize and meet multiple grant submission deadlines, and be capable of quickly learning and adjusting to external and internal grant software and systems.Demonstrated knowledge is necessary of how to accomplish superior performance in unionized environment. Preferred Qualifications Prior funding success with Federal grant awards as the PI on F-, R- or K-type awards is a major plus.PHD in neuroscience, psychology or closely related science field, Plus 3 years related post doc experience Proficiency with Rutgers Research Administration and Proposal Submission System (RAPSS). Equipment Utilized Physical Demands and Work Environment PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Standing, sitting, walking, talking and hearing. Sitting at computer for length of time. Manual dexterity and vision sufficient for computer data entry and data analysis. May need to lift small objects/packages up to 25 pounds. Must be able to perform detailed work, work productively under time constraints to meet multiple grant submission deadlines, and manage multiple tasks.WORK ENVIRONMENT:Fast-paced office setting. Moderate background noise. This position requires occasional evening and weekend hours as needed to meet grant submission deadlines and host BHI activities and events. Special Conditions Preference to those with understanding of proposal development, finding funding and other grant related activities experience such as writing IACUC, IBC, or IRB protocols.
