And of course, in your ideas to improve lives while preserving our planet’s beauty for the generations to come.We are looking for:The focus of the North American Government Affairs Senior Advisor role is to support Syensqo’s North American Government Affairs Department in all matters in order to serve the Business Units and to position Syensqo effectively with government stakeholders.This position, reporting directly to the Vice President, Global Government Affairs, is responsible for supporting the development of N.A. government and public affairs strategies, while working as an effective liaison with teams and colleagues in the Syensqo business units and functions to ensure a streamlined and coordinated approach.The position will help internal stakeholders understand the N.A. public policy environment and develop strategies to serve their needs. The position will also interface with public officials and other external stakeholders, as needed, in order to promote the Group’s position on various policy issues. In addition, the position will help to further the department’s focus on customers by developing value chain outreach strategies that will promote the Group’s business interests while executing developed government affairs strategies. We are looking for this position to be a mobile working employee based in the Washington, D.C. area.We count on you for:

Support Syensqo’s N.A. Government Affairs department to effectuate its policy agenda and advocacy initiatives.

Represent Syensqo interests in several key professional industry trade associations, including those representing the chemicals, aerospace and defense, manufacturing, automotive, foreign direct investment, and cleaning solutions sectors.

Advocate directly on Syensqo’s behalf with U.S. federal Congressional and Executive Branch officials and staff.

Advocate directly on Syensqo behalf with state executive and legislative branch officials and staff, and cultivate necessary relationships across our 25+ state U.S. footprint.

Monitor and track both federal and state legislation and regulations, and notify relevant business stakeholders of future challenges. Lead cross-functional teams designed to influence policy outcomes.

Advocate directly on Syensqo’s behalf with officials in Canada and Mexico to represent our manufacturing footprint’s policy interests.

Guide internal regulatory, business development and key account management teams in developing strategy for product portfolios and investments.

Support development and evaluation of performance milestones for special contract consultants.

Working with Syensqo’s Communications team and relevant Business Units, lead and direct preparation of position papers, briefing materials and Syensqo-specific infographics to complement our outreach with internal and external stakeholders, including public officials.

Support cross-functional, cross-continent advocacy efforts for several international forums, including UN Plastics Treaty negotiations and Montreal Protocol implementation.

Mobilize U.S. employees on various advocacy issues when necessary.

Lead coordination and filing of N.A. Government Affairs Department’s U.S. Lobbying Disclosure Act reporting.

You will bring:

Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in law, political sciences, chemistry or economics.

A strong understanding and experience with the U.S. political system, its institutions, its functioning and effective advocacy initiatives.

7-10 years of experience in the field of U.S. government affairs is required in relevant industries. Previous consultancy, public sector and/or trade association experience a plus, but not required.

Excellent verbal skills and comfortable speaking in front of internal and external audiences, and working across cultures.

Have the desire and drive to act as a company advocate and the ability to influence others in order to get their commitment to ideas, projects and actions.

Comfortable managing and reporting on a large number of important issues in detail simultaneously and independently.

Ability to quickly assimilate and understand new issues, often of a technical nature, and translate Syensqo positions into pertinent narrative for public officials.

Ability to establish strong professional links with other functional and business departments within Syensqo as well as with representatives of other companies and professional associations.

Strong sense of initiative and proactive approach to identify opportunities for the Group.

Self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously as necessary.

Advanced PowerPoint skills and the aptitude to learn new systems quickly.

Up to 40% domestic travel across Syensqo’s U.S. footprint.

Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.

You will get:

The U.S. base salary range reasonably expected to be paid for this position is $134,000.00 to $167,000.00. Since actual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted base salary range. Total compensation for this role also includes bonus and/or other incentives.
