Seeking a daytime Sous Chef at a seasonal restaurant on the Jersey Shore in Avalon, NJ. The daytime Sous Chef will be responsible for managing Prep and will typically work from 10am-6pm. We can offer a Part-Time or Full-Time position. Housing available in our Staff House, if needed.
The restaurant is open May through September. We serve a four-course, prix-fixe menu that changes monthly. Our menu is ingredient driven and highly seasonal, we work closely with local farmers and fishers. We are currently dinner-only, serving approximately 200 guests/night. Job Responsibilities:
- Open the restaurant
- Manage prep cooks for basic prep tasks
- Cook and prepare advanced prep
- Ensure kitchen staff adhere to restaurant standards and county sanitation requirements
- Put away food orders and help manage inventory
- Help set lines for service
- Assist with menu flips. This includes menu development, staff training, and working service for the first few nights of a new menu. Expect 4-5 menu flips per season, every 3-4 weeks.
- Assist with prep and service for special events ie Rehearsal Dinners. Be prepared to take on special tasks during special events.
- Assist with training prep cooks in May
- Work service Memorial Day Weekend and Labor Day Weekend
- Manage Lunch and/or Happy Hour if applicable
- May be asked to cover service if a cook calls-out or needs a substitute
Pay:
Full-time: Work 5-6 days/week and receive a Shift Pay of $250/shift
Part-time: Work 3-4 days/week and receive a Shift Pay of $200/shift
