We're looking for a Privacy Consultant to join our Office of the General Counsel and play a hands-on role in making that happen.This is a great opportunity for someone early in their privacy career or coming from a records management, dispute resolution, financial services or health background, who wants to build genuine expertise in privacy law while working alongside experienced legal professionals.What you'll be doingReporting into the Senior Privacy Manager & Counsel, you'll be right at the centre of how AFCA meets its obligations under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). Day to day, that means:Handling privacy requests - reviewing and preparing AFCA's responses to access and correction requests under APPs 12 and 13, and keeping our privacy database accurate and up to dateSupporting compliance - researching privacy and data protection developments to help keep AFCA ahead of its statutory obligationsManaging incidents - assisting with the breach reporting register, remediation activities, and identifying trends or systemic issuesDelivering insights - collating data for privacy reporting, and helping spot patterns that matterBuilding capability - helping design and roll out privacy training across the organisationEngaging stakeholders -  liaising with teams across AFCA, and occasionally regulators and external law firms, to get things right
