Patient Access Representative-Central Access Office-Per DiemReq #:0000130514Category:Billing/Collections/RegistrationStatus:Per DiemShift:DayFacility:RWJBarnabas Health Corporate ServicesDepartment:Central Access OfficeLocation:Behavioral Health, 1601 US HIGHWAY 9, TOMS RIVER, NJ 08755RESPONSIBILITIES:Performs all duties related to the pre-registration, registration, and financial clearance processes for all patients (emergency, ambulatory and in-patients). Responsible for collecting proper data to insure hospital bills will be paid by a third party payer or the patient. Provides front-door customer service to patients and orients patients to the registration/admission process. Performs scheduling functions of new and follow-up patients and discharges patients accordingly. Responsible for identifying, collecting and reconciling patient liabilities on a routine basis. Corresponds with Supervisor/Manager on operational issues as required.REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess a strong level of customer service skill, experience in data entry and computer skills
Knowledgeable of medical insurance and medical terminology (preferred)
Work experience in patient registration (preferred)
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or GED required
Relevant experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Previous medical receptionist experience or background in general office, preferred
Demonstrates a clear understanding of the importance of patient satisfaction and safety
Strong oral and written communications skills
Attention to accuracy and detail
Able to multitask and work under pressure
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Knowledge of medical terminology and electronic medical record (EMR) systems preferred
