What You Will DoAre you ready for a new challenge? The Nuclear Process Infrastructure Division has an opening within the Non-Destructive Assay & Vault Operations (NPI-9) working group. We are looking for a highly motivated, customer service focused, and highly experienced individual to help lead operations on the processing floor.NPI-9 safely and efficiently supports ALDWP in Non-Destructive Assay, MSO Vault Operations. NDA performs a variety of non-destructive assay (NDA) processes and methods that are essential to supporting material control and accountability for production and waste operations. Calorimetry, gamma isotopic, Far Field gamma, neutron coincidence, and passive/active neutron are some of the technologies used and developed by the NDA team. NPI-9 is also responsible for operating & maintaining in-line instruments including balances, thermal neutron & solution assay instruments.The Manufacturing Manager 1 will serve as the technical lead for the team and will provide management and leadership while managing NDA lab operations and various in-the-field assays. The selected candidate will oversee the day-to-day operations of the team, as well as develop and deliver improved, customer-focused, processes and procedures. An overarching component of this position will be the coaching/mentoring of the team members in Conduct of Operations.Specific job duties include but are not limited to the following; Coordinate various administrative functions in support of operational program efficiency including planning, prioritizing, and scheduling of team assignments; ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements associated with the best safety, environmental, security, and conduct of operations practices; conduct both routine and job-specific pre-job briefings with all involved workers and provide technical expertise for the activities being performed; ensure that safety and security are an integral part of every task, including taking the necessary steps to stop work if continuing a job is unsafe or could compromise security; and serve as Acting First Line Manager (FLM) for the team during temporary absences of the assigned FLM.What You NeedMinimum Job Requirements:Leadership: Demonstrated record of successful technical leadership and proven ability in supervising, mentoring, motivating employees, and developing personnel.Knowledge and Expertise: Demonstrated experience in performing various non-destructive assay methods, coordinating work activities, and managing resources. Experience planning for and managing tactical execution of work; tracking and reporting progress. Experience performing work in a manufacturing environment and executing work in compliance with facility requirements and conduct of operations.Accountability: Demonstrated experience in implementing and maintaining formality of operations in a nuclear facility.Communication: Demonstrated effective written and oral communication skills as evidenced by internal and/or external interactions, meetings, and briefings; effective interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to interact with all levels of personnel and customers.Education/Experience: Position requires a Bachelor's degree and 1 year of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.Clearance and Mandatory Certifications: Ability to obtain and maintain Q-clearance and Human Reliability Program (HRP) certification.DOE Order 426.2: Requires a High School Diploma and 3 years nuclear experience. Full-time related academic training (e.g., degree programs, trade schools, vocational programs, etc.) may be substituted on a one-for-one basis for 2 of the 3 years nuclear experience. This position is subject to DOE Order 426.2, Personnel Selection, Training, and Qualification Requirements for DOE Nuclear Facilities. This DOE Order establishes entry-level requirements to ensure employees in these positions can successfully perform the requirements of the job.Desired Qualifications:Knowledge: Demonstrated experience with the Waste Compliance and Tracking System (WCATS), Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, and LANMAS.Nuclear Facility Compliance: Demonstrated experience executing work in compliance with facility requirements. Experience with nuclear high hazard facility operating requirements, safety authorization basis and/or Conduct of Operations planning and execution.Skills and Expertise: Certification as a Fissile Material Handler/Supervisor and experience handling/moving nuclear material.Clearance: DOE Q Clearance and HRP Certification.Essential Job Functions (can perform with or without reasonable accommodation):

Reading vision, distance vision, ability to hear in a normal range (500 to 3000 htz), walking, climbing stairs, and typing or keyboarding.

Ability to lift and carry up to 25lbs.

Work Environment:This position requires a combination of office work and on-site performance of duties inside the nuclear facility. May require extended work hours, work near sources of ionizing radiation, personal protective equipment such as safety glasses or eye protection, anti-contamination clothing, safety shoes, protective footgear and full-face respirators.
