Garcia Street Club Seeks Lead Toddler Teacher

Garcia Street Club, a five-star, nationally-accredited preschool and family resource center on Santa Fe's historic eastside since 1945 is seeking a Lead Toddler Teacher. This individual will work with two dedicated assistants in a classroom with a 1:4 ratio and a maximum of 12 children, ages 12 months to 2 years. Ideal candidate will have a minimum of an AA Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field, and at least one year's experience teaching young children or a degree in a related field plus experience. We may consider candidates currently enrolled in an ECE program if willing to complete a Professional Development Plan outlining educational goals and timeline. Knowledge of the basic competencies of ECE is a must. Familiarity with sensory-rich, emergent curriculum and/or The Reggio Emilia Approach is a plus!

Essential Functions

Foster a creative classroom experience that is a safe and fun environment suitable for young children

Develop weekly plans that employ a variety of educational techniques (STEM, music, movement, arts, etc.) to foster joy and help children meet developmental milestones

Guide children to develop their capabilities through a carefully constructed yet emergent child-led curriculum based on children's interests

Supervise children to ensure they are always safe

Track children’s progress and interests through the observation of developmental milestones and document progress

Communicate with parents daily

Collect observations and document each child’s progress

Collaborate with other educators

Maintain an orderly and age-appropriate classroom consistent with health and safety standards

Skills and Requirements

Proven experience as an Early Childhood Teacher

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Comprehensive understanding of the principles of developmentally-appropriate practice

Familiarity with safety and sanitation guidelines for classrooms

Excellent communication and instructional skills

Reliability and a strong work ethic plus ability to work well in a team

Certification in child CPR (provided by GSC if not certified)

Basic technical skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
