New York's Newborn Screening Program is a partner in the Federally funded "ScreenPlus" project. ScreenPlus (https://www.einsteinmed.edu/research/screenplus/screening/) is an internationally recognized, comprehensive, flexible, consented multi-disorder newborn screening program. This study aims to pilot screen for diseases that are under consideration for addition to the federally recommended uniform screening panel (RUSP).The incumbent will work with a team that includes physicians, scientists, an ethicist, and others who are experts in the field of newborn screening. The primary lab responsibilities will be to assist with the biochemical analysis of newborn blood spots. Techniques utilized will include automated liquid handler operation and high-performance liquid chromatography mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS/MS). Additional responsibilities will include specimen accessioning, punching, ordering, data evaluation and analysis, and routine lab maintenance.This position will be part of a dynamic team serving the Wadsworth Center's mission in the New York State Department of Health's efforts to protect and promote the health of New York's citizens.
