Position: The GIS Specialist Lead will play a crucial role in the modernization of the NYS GIS architecture. This includes overseeing software automation, managing GIS specialist resources, and leading the transformation of the legacy GIS platform. The Lead will be responsible for building a new GIS data warehouse, migrating data to enterprise geodatabases, and implementing strategies for a streamlined system development life cycle (SDLC). SCOPE OF SERVICES:
As a GIS Specialist Lead, your responsibilities include:
Implementing strategies for the system development life cycle (SDLC).
Overseeing the modernization project, including communicating technical and non-technical functionality and requirements.
Configuring and working with databases, developing functions, and creating queries.
Developing, testing, and deploying GIS software and GIS datasets.
Creating and utilizing scripts and object-oriented programming, with a preference for Python.
Running GIS data ETL workflows, manually or through scheduled automation, including triggers, actions, indicators, notifications, and logging.
MANDATORY SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
Note: Candidates who do not have the mandatory skills will not be considered.
10+ years of experience implementing SDLC strategies.
Experience overseeing large-scale technical projects, including the communication of technical and non-technical requirements.
Experience configuring and working with databases, developing functions, and queries.
Proven expertise in developing, testing, and deploying GIS software and datasets.
Proficiency in scripting and object-oriented programming (Python preferred).
Experience in running GIS data ETL workflows, both manually and through scheduled automation.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in geography, math, computer science, or a related field.
A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
An equivalent combination of advanced education, training, and experience may be considered.
