Assistant Corporate Controller

Job Title: Assistant Corporate ControllerJob DescriptionWe are seeking an Assistant Corporate Controller to support our finance team. The successful candidate will oversee financial statement preparation and both internal and external reporting packages. This role involves managing monthly closing processes, supervising general ledger reconciliations, preparing journal entries, and reviewing foreign currency transactions. The Assistant Corporate Controller will ensure compliance with company policies, GAAP, and Sarbanes-Oxley, and will assist with financial audits and the development of budgets and business plans.Responsibilities

Oversee corporate and field monthly closing processes and deadlines.

Supervise general ledger reconciliations to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies efficiently.

Supervise and prepare journal entries, including tax and allocation entries.

Review and prepare foreign currency transaction/translation entries.

Oversee related party transactions, including intercompany, intracompany, investment in subsidiaries/joint ventures, and eliminations.

Manage corporate processes related to cash transactions, accounts receivable, prepaids, fixed assets, accounts payable, accruals, and deferred tax accounts.

Substantiate and review new suppliers/vendors/service providers setup documents.

Substantiate and review expenditures and expense reports for accuracy.

Manage and assist with financial audits.

Assist with the preparation of financial analyses, outlooks, and forecasts.

Work with corporate department managers and staff to develop budgets and business plans.

Manage accounting procedures and ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, GAAP, and Sarbanes-Oxley.

Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal budgetary reporting requirements.

Audit workflow to ensure all accounting transactions are appropriately authorized.

Prepare internal reports and work on special projects as requested.

Assist with hiring, training, and managing staff.

Essential Skills

Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting.

Minimum of 4 years senior -level finance or accounting experience, construction industry experience preferred.

Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles.

Familiarity with automated financial and accounting reporting systems.

Strong problem-solving and resolution capabilities.

Working knowledge of foreign currency transactions and translations.

Knowledge of federal, state, and local financial regulations.

Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections.

Knowledge of short- and long-term budgeting and forecasting.

High level of discretion, professionalism, and integrity.

Effective training and staff management capabilities.

Ability to manage multiple projects within tight timeframes.

Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite with advanced Excel skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Master’s Degree and CPA preferred.

Work EnvironmentThis position operates in an office environment. The role frequently involves sitting for long periods, speaking, reading, writing, and using a computer keyboard. Occasionally, the role may require standing, walking, lifting, stooping, or bending.
