Associate Research Scientist

The Department of Microbiology & Immunology, in the College of Physicians and Surgeons at Columbia University Medical Center, is distinguished by its emphasis on research that bridges the study of infectious microbes and the response of hosts to such pathogens. Our objective is to understand the molecular basis of infectious disease, and our research is focused on immunology, model systems, and pathogenesis. Columbia University's Department of Microbiology & Immunology invites applicants for the position of Associate Research Scientist. Candidates for this senior level research position should have strong scientific and postdoctoral experience. Responsibilities will include running a vibrant research program, mentoring of graduate students and postdocs, and active participation in the department's programs and activities. The Associate Research Scientist may oversee work of more junior research staff and may direct the implementation of laboratory processes/protocols.Minimum QualificationsPhD or MD, plus 2 to 3 years of postdoctoral research experience. Preferred QualificationsThe applicant should be self-motivated and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. S/he should also have outstanding organizational skills, the ability to multitask, and be able to work independently as well as within a team.
