Job DescriptionONLY OPEN TO CURRENT FULL-TIME ANNUALLY PAID PARKS EMPLOYEESMajor Responsibilities
Under direction of the Commissioner, with latitude for independent initiative and judgment, manage difficult and responsible professional work.
Supervise the day-to-day operations of the Brooklyn Borough Commissioner's Office, including supervising assistants who oversee the Commissioner’s schedule, the Agency’s correspondence and special projects.
Serve as liaison to City Hall, other City, State and Federal agencies and oversee projects within the Agency on behalf of the Commissioner.
Work with all divisions within the Agency to solicit and synthesize policy ideas.
Coordinate and manage the borough's capital projects, including liaising with the Capital and Planning divisions, conducting needs assessments and long-range planning, and organizing meetings and reviews.
Assist in private fundraising and other funding initiatives including coordinating grants.
Assist with invitations and fliers, community and elected official outreach, program and speech preparation, provide food service and refreshments.
Schedule, plan and carry out special events including ground breakings, ribbon cuttings, reviewing presentations and award ceremonies.
Oversee correspondence and permits office.
Work on inter and intra-governmental issues/projects.
Conduct research, analyze and synthesize information from across the Agency to prepare correspondence, PowerPoint presentations, reports and briefing documents for the Commissioner.
Accompany the Commissioner to internal and external meetings.
Serve as representative for the Commissioner as needed.
Represent the Commissioner at Agency and external meetings.

A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
