Must have a Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school and be a member in good standing with the New York State Bar, and a minimum of 8 years of relevant post-barlegal work experience.Additionally, candidates should have the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:? Substantial experience working within and leading cross-functional teams and managing complex organizations and processes, particularly in the public sector.? Experience managing a principal, including organizing and facilitating decision-making processes, tracking deliverables.? Duties Description The Executive Chamber is seeking a highly motivated attorney and manager to serve as Special Counsel and Chief of Staff to the Counsel. This role will play a critical role in advising the Counsel and managing the Counsel’s office, including working with the Deputy Counsels and Assistant Counsels, and interfacing with other Executive Chamber teams and functions, as well as State agencies and departments. To succeed in this role, you must be a highly organized leader, proactive, strong writer and communicator, and facilitator of a collaborative environment. You must have significant government experience. You must be able to identify legal and strategic issues and risk acrossvarious units and operations within the Executive Chamber and throughout State government. You must possess excellent time management and organizational skills and be able to oversee a wide range of priorities and competing tasks, across functions within State government. Youmust exercise impeccable judgment—from an organizational, strategic, and legal perspective—ina high-stress and fast paced environment. You also must be creative, inspirational, and have a sense of humor.Routine travel between NYC and Albany offices required, frequently overnight, and as often as weekly.Specific Duties Include:? Work with other Chamber teams to ensure appropriate collaboration with Counsel’s office.? Assist with management of major Counsel’s office processes, including review of legislation and regulations, and oversight of major litigation.? Manage information flow between Counsel and internal and external parties to eliminate bottlenecks and strategically manage Counsel’s calendar? Support Assistant Counsels and Deputy Counsels, other groups across the ExecutiveChamber and State departments, and theird parties to eliminate bottlenecks and ensure effective flow of information to and make Counsel.? Produce daily digests and efficient decision point memos for Counsel where approval is needed.? Manage hiring and professional development for Counsels Office, including regular and organized training/CLEs? Organize agency counsel meetings and develop methods to ensure that agencies receive the necessary support and guidance from Counsel’s office to fulfill their missions.
