With this asset, we pioneer innovative, advanced applications and intelligent data analytics, bringing an unmatched level of quality and efficiency to clinical trials enabling treatments to reach waiting patients sooner.Medidata is looking for an experienced Director, Data Science Engineering to lead engineer and data scientist teams in designing, implementing, deploying and operating our novel data science products as part of our Medidata Enterprise Data Store (MEDS) and data fabric.
Solve some of the most complex problems in healthcare, translating complex data into meaningful insights
Provide clear, consistent leadership, management and mentoring for direct reports and the broader technology organization. Inspire, empower and motivate the team, leading by example.
Leverage our software engineering partners alongside our internal teams to operate and deliver in the most effective manner
Provide support functions around model-building, including data cleaning and code review
Ability to understand complex, multivariable statistical models and data analytics solutions built using machine learning algorithms
Build relationships with product management, marketing, sales, and users to enable development teams to more effectively refine system requirements and size delivery efforts.
Consistently execute against a product roadmap to deliver multiple features
Embrace test-driven development with complete code coverage and continuous integration
Work closely with the test team manager to ensure a solid overall test strategy is in place for the solution
Proactively encourage team members to increase the breadth and depth of their leadership, technical and soft skills.
Collaborate with Senior Management and major stakeholders to establish and communicate a technical vision for the solution
Work directly with our team comprised of the brightest minds in technology, research and life sciences
Your Competencies:
Proven leadership in driving and growing several agile software development teams
Experience of operating in (or ideally adopting) a Devops environment & culture
Proven experience at Director level engineering positions that includes managing managers
Proven leadership scaling application development teams that are self-organizing, loosely coupled, yet highly aligned.
Ability to translate business challenges into data pipelines & model framework, owning and driving successful projects
Proven technical leadership regarding feature design, enhancement and implementation of complex commercial software solutions
Full-Stack software development experience architecting and building robust distributed systems that scale well
Strong technical expertise in .NET, front-end UI (React) and RESTful API development.
Strong verbal and written communication; collaborative focus
Experience in statistical tools and programming languages that allow you to understand complex clinical data (R, Python, SQL)
Your Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s of Science or Master’s degree in relevant field. Ph.D. a plus
Proven track record at Director level engineering positions, preferably in a healthcare related company
Experience leading & working with remote engineering teams and 3rd party vendors
Experience with cloud technologies, such as AWS is desired
Experience with the Google apps suite, GitHub, Git, MySQL are desired
