As the Editorial Director, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the direction of our non-fiction publishing program, identifying promising authors and projects, and ensuring the highest editorial standards are maintained throughout the publication process. This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned professional with a passion for non-fiction literature and a keen eye for identifying compelling stories, storytellers and ideas.Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute a strategic vision for the non-fiction book division in alignment with the company's overall goals and objectives. Lead the development of editorial strategies to acquire, develop, and publish high-quality non-fiction titles.

Author Acquisition and Development: Identify and cultivate relationships with established and emerging authors, experts, and thought leaders in various non-fiction genres. Evaluate book proposals and manuscripts, providing constructive feedback to authors and guiding them through the editorial process.

Content Curation and Development: Curate a diverse and compelling list of non-fiction titles that appeal to a wide range of readers. Work closely with authors to develop their ideas into polished manuscripts that resonate with our target audience.

Team Management : Lead and mentor a team of editors, including acquiring editors and developmental editors. Provide guidance, support, and feedback to ensure the team delivers high-quality editorial work on schedule and within budge t.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with other departments, including marketing, sales, design, and production, to ensure seamless coordination throughout the publishing process. Work collaboratively to develop effective marketing and publicity strategies for non-fiction titles.

Market Analysis and Trend Monitoring: Stay abreast of industry trends, market developments, and emerging topics in the non-fiction publishing landscape. Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify opportunities for growth and innovation.

Quality Assurance: Ensure that all non-fiction titles meet the highest editorial standards in terms of content accuracy, clarity, and overall quality. Oversee the editing process, including substantive editing, copyediting, and prooing, to ensure that manuscripts are error-free and polished.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in English, journalism, communications, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.

Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in editorial roles within the publishing industry, with a focus on non-fiction books.

Proven track record of acquiring and developing successful non-fiction titles across a variety of genres and subjects.

Strong editorial skills, including excellent writing, editing, and developmental abilities.

Exceptional leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team of editors.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with authors, agents, and industry professionals.

Deep knowledge of the non-fiction publishing landscape, including market trends, audience preferences, and competitive dynamics.

Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Passion for non-fiction literature and a commitment to promoting diverse voices and perspectives in publishing.
