Resident Engineer

Our client, a leading engineering consulting firm, is seeking a Resident Engineer to join their dynamic team in NYC. This is a long-term opportunity with significant growth potential within one of the premier engineering firms in the area. The Resident Engineer will oversee street tree planting projects across the five boroughs, ensuring compliance with specifications and safety protocols.Responsibilities:

Receive site location emails from the Project Manager (PM)

Meet the Superintendent at the job site by 7 AM

Observe contractors on site and ensure adherence to project specifications and safety regulations

Coordinate with the PM to ensure adequate staffing level

Collaborate with the Parks Department and contractors to facilitate project progress

Utilize specification books to understand project requirements and ensure compliance

Maintain a safe work environment, ensuring contractors wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)

Record and track measurements for pay items, such as tree planting and excavation, to facilitate contractor payments

Requirements:

1+ year of experience in civil engineering, landscape architecture, or construction

Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or environmental engineering/science

Ability to work outside in all weather conditions

Personal vehicle for transportation

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Experience in daily field reporting and construction oversight tasks
