Overview The Section Manager of Area Station Planning is responsible for ensuring our electric distribution area substations, sub-transmission supply feeder and 4kV unit and multibank substation systems are capable on a reliability design basis to meet future demand needs by providing required load relief. The Section Manager will determine the scope of area substation cost-effective capital reinforcement or expansion project solutions at the area station level based on long-range demand forecasts to maintain sub-transmission feeder and area substation design criteria.Responsibilities Core Responsibilities The Section Manager of Area Station Planning is responsible for ensuring our electric distribution area substation, sub-transmission supply feeder and 4kV substation systems are capable on a reliability design basis to meet future demand needs by providing required load relief. The Section Manager will determine the scope of area substation cost-effective capital reinforcement or expansion project solutions at the area station level based on long-range demand forecasts to maintain sub-transmission feeder and area substation design criteria. Develop and publish on an annual basis, the Ten-Year and Twenty-Year Load Relief Programs that ensure all sub-transmission and area station assets will adhere to contingency reliability design criteria to meet forecasted demand by engineering and establishing appropriate timing of load relief solutions. Manage, direct, and guide all area station level analysis including but not limited to evaluations of voltage and thermal limitations, power flow modeling and simulations for various technical applications. Coordinate with various areas of the Company such as Resource Planning, Central Engineering, Electric Operations, S&TO, Strategic Planning and Distribution Planning groups to coalesce around most cost-effective area station and associated distribution system load relief solutions, including non-wires solutions. Provide SME support and analytic evaluations of the Companys energy storage initiative as they impact area substation assets. Provide support and thought leadership to integrated planning efforts that include broader statewide initiatives such as TPWG, CCIP and CGPP geared towards achieving NYS CLCPA goals Direct technical and economic studies to evaluate area substation and sub-transmission feeder load relief alternatives including addition of capacitors, transformers, load transfers and the establishment of new area substations and transmission stations. Respond to questions and or data analytic requests from company organizations to help understand the impact of incoming customer loading to area substation design and capital costs. Coordinate with Transmission Planning on renewable resource adequacy needs to ensure DER use cases are designed with maximum value to both the distribution systems, as well as firming renewable energy generation. Commit to the ideals of developing a proactive, customer-centric culture to foster trust and confidence among customers (both internal and external) and improve value for all our stakeholders. Engage with regulators, and support the reporting requirements of area station load relief objectives to New York Public Service Commission Perform other related tasks and assignments as required.Qualifications Required Education/Experience Bachelor's Degree and a minimum 8 years' related work experience.Relevant Work Experience 3-5 years Experience with Microsoft office applications, required. 3-5 years Strong financial and data analytical skills, required. 3-5 years Proven ability to manage multiple assignments and changing priorities, required. 3-5 years Must have excellent oral and written communications skills, required.
