DescriptionAbout this roleThe Social Impact team is responsible for driving the philanthropic program at BlackRock, including managing and coordinating governance for the BlackRock Foundation and overseeing the firm's donor advised fund. The team's strategic approach to philanthropy includes identifying and diligencing mission-driven corporate grants, managing firmwide Signature Initiatives, including the US Local Economies Grant Program and BlackRock's Emergency Savings Initiative, and driving employee engagement and community giving through employee-driven programs and global volunteering. Social Impact partners with Marketing, Communications, and Global Public Policy to amplify the impact of the firm's philanthropic investments in regional and local communities and with clients, policymakers, and other key stakeholders.This Vice President role will be responsible for the day-to-day operations and execution of the US Local Economies Grant Program, reporting to the Head of Strategic Initiatives for Social Impact and Corporate Sustainability. The role includes partnering closely with internal and external stakeholders to source and diligence community-based grants focused on social and economic mobility for Americans. This dynamic leader will stay closely connected to the firm's U.S. Public Affairs efforts and Global Public Policy priorities and will ensure alignment between the Foundation's impact objectives and the firm's brand and reputation goals. In this capacity, this individual will interface regularly with firm leaders across multiple functions, as well as manage ongoing relationships with nonprofit partners and other community leaders and decision makers.Responsibilities:
Partner with team leadership on the design, socialization and launch of the U.S. Local Economies Grant Program, and lead day-to-day operations including managing the Local Economies Taskforce - a group of internal colleagues who will help source potential investments and serve as strategic advisors for the program
Develop and maintain peer funder landscape of community and place-based grantmaking strategies
Spearhead diligence of funding opportunities, applying rigorous analysis, and succinctly presenting the case to team leadership and Foundation Board
Communicate program priorities and execution plans across the firm via strategic presentations, meetings, written communications
Monitor and track U.S. Local Economies grant portfolio, ensuring deadlines, reporting and impact expectations are met
Act as key partner, champion. and day-to-day thought partner for grantees, ensuring optimal connectivity and alignment with the firm
Create process for sourcing stories from grantees on an ongoing basis that showcase the Foundation's impact on local communities
Define and manage goals for stakeholder engagement in a given community in close coordination with the US Public Affairs Working Group, Global Public Policy Group, and members of the Local Economies Taskforce
Requirements/Desired Skills:
6+ years of industry work experience, preferably in a financial services organization or a corporate foundation leading strategic analysis or development
Bachelor's degree
Excellent analytical and written communication skills, with aptitude to convey complex concepts simply and clearly
Exceptional organizational skills and keen attention to detail
Prior experience managing cross-business and cross-functional projects preferred, team player with collaborative attitude
Mature demeanor, comfortable working with senior leaders
Self-starter with high level of independence, ability to innovate, work under pressure, and comfortable taking ownership and primary responsibility for deliverables
Ambitious approach to large, complex projects, with strong problem solving skills
Ability to perform under high-pressure situations and tight deadlines
Sense of humor appreciated
For New York City only: The salary range for this position is $142,500 - $190,000. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits.
