ResponsibilitiesPosition Summary:Performs Cardiopulmonary VO2 max stress tests and exercise treadmill tests to adult cardiac patients in the lab. Reviews patient history and previous tests if applicable. Provides instruction and guidance to patient throughout the test. Performs various exercise protocols on patients with known or suspected heart disease. Obtains consent from patient prior to the test. Works closely with the Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Program.Responsibilities:
Reviews patient¿s history prior to test. Observes the patient walking and assesses patient risk of exercise prior to choosing level of difficulty of test protocol. Consents patient for ordered test.
Monitors and documents patient¿s vitals and continuous ECG tracings at baseline and throughout the VO2 max stress test and exercise stress test, including blood pressure, O2 sat saturation, heart rate and rhythm. Identifies any ischemic changes and notifies Cardiologist when appropriate.
Prepares and interprets VO2 max data. Creates a summary report for Advanced Heart Failure Attending to sign and approve.
Explains the purpose of the test, prepares patient¿s skin and applies monitoring electrodes.
Maintains CPET equipment, Q-stress monitor and defibrillator. Calibrates flow sensor and gas analyzers. Troubleshoots equipment as needed. Inventories, stocks and orders all supplies for the exercise lab.
Participates in Educational program, relating to Cardiopulmonary testing and CPET equipment routinely.

Qualifications:
Bachelor¿s Degree in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology or Kinesiology or other science related fields required
1 year of experience in a direct patient care related position or customer service position required
or equivalent combination of education and experience required
Cardiology background and/or ECG interpretation skills preferred
ACSM or AACVPR preferred
