If this description speaks to you, continue reading about the opportunity of Insurance Specialist. This is a full-time, 40 hours per week position at St. John’s Home. Position Summary: The Insurance Specialist is responsible for reviewing financial information and documents subsequent to admission and meeting with families and/or residents to review for accuracy. The Insurance Specialist completes insurance verification on all re-admissions and Part B referrals. Responsibilities include:

Verifying eligibility coverage for new and readmitted residents with insurance plans not limited to: Medicare, HMOs, PPS, No Fault, Medicaid, Long Term Care, and Part D Plans.

Obtain insurance authorizations and MLTC single case agreements for new and readmitted residents.

Issue ABNs and or cut letters on admission and re-admission to residents and or families.

As needed assist with Admission Agreements

Create and update resident demographics and payer hierarchy in EMR to ensure clean claims by Business Office.

Evaluate Long Term Care applications from rehabilitation and community.

Facilitate timely Medicaid applications for residents.

Participate in Triple Check and Rehab Review to proactively identify insurance changes.

Meet with Elders and Families upon admission and transition from Rehabilitation to Long Term Care, as needed discuss insurance matters and financial inquiries.

Qualifications:

Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communication skills.

Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills.

Detail orientated organizational skills.

Able to prioritize in a fast-paced office environment.

Proficiency in using Electronic Health Records.

Efficient in navigating multiple programs and insurance databases simultaneously.

Basic understanding of medical terminology, coding and billing.

Physical Requirements:

General office environment.

Prolonged sitting.

Standing and walking.

Light lifting up to 10 lbs.
