Laboratory Technician III

POSITION SUMMARY:The purpose of this role is to support research on the human cognitive neuroscience of perception. The person will perform complex and varied research laboratory assignments. These assignments will include programming experiments for psychophysical and neurophysiological experiments, assisting with collecting data on those experiment from human subjects, and assisting with various aspects of analyzing the resulting data. This will include programming and operating software in the MATLAB and Python environments, measuring brain activity using EEG equipment, and pre-processing the EEG data to clean it from noise artifacts that may derive from different sources, including cochlear implants. As such, some formal training in computer programming and/or engineering with signal processing will be required.TYPICAL DUTIES:

Programming computers to implement various psychophysical and neurophysiological experimental tasks

Assisting with behavioral and electrophysiological data collection from human subjects

Processing behavioral and electrophysiological data ¿ including using signal processing methods to ¿clean¿ artifacts from EEG data.

Assist with ordering supplies and equipment for the laboratory

Other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS:

High School required

Associate¿s or Bachelor¿s degree preferred

5 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required

Formal training in signal processing required

Python and MATLAB programming. Signal processing skill required
