GENERAL PURPOSE:The Department of Psychiatry at the University of Rochester invites applications for a full-time therapist position to join its Mental Health and Gender Wellness (MHGW) team. MHGW is integrated into the Gender Wellness, Obstetrics and Gynecology (GOG), a full-service obstetrics and gynecology practice primarily serving individuals with Medicaid insurance, and provides mental health care to patients of the practice. A key goal of our program is to improve access and reduce health disparities, particularly among patients of color, in our community. Our multidisciplinary team works together to provide assessment, education, consultation, and psychotherapy for patients who have mental health needs. The therapist participates in formal and informal collaboration with obstetrician-gynecologists, nurse practitioners and nursing care managers. The successful candidate will have expertise in evidence-based treatments, will be skilled in collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, and committed to addressing mental health inequities. We are seeking a qualified master’s level candidate (LCSW or LCSW-R, LMFTs, or LMHCs) and strong clinical and diagnostic skills to join our vibrant team. The therapist provides brief mental health services for individuals who have a diagnosable mental illness, functions as the primary clinician and is responsible for assessment, treatment planning, therapy/counseling, and education services for patients and families. The therapist also provides coverage for other Division of Collaborative Care and Wellness Programs as needed. Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds required.SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under general direction and with considerable latitude for independent judgment performs complex psychosocial assessments and diagnostic formulations for patients and their families when indicated. Ensures the development and implementation of comprehensive and individualized treatment plans for patients with clearly defined therapeutic goals.

Conducts the course of individual, family, couple and systems-oriented and evidence-based psychotherapies within the accepted standards of practice as delineated by OMH and the Department, receiving clinical and administrative supervision by senior staff and/or faculty.

Assesses successful completion of therapeutic goals and plans termination of therapy accordingly.

Meets minimum target for clinical productivity set by service director and Division.

Documents treatment in patient's electronic medical record in compliance with Program, Department and Hospital regulations.

Attends clinic staff and team meetings Attends new staff orientation as required by the Division, Department, URMC and discipline. Participates in all required Departmental and programmatic diversity trainings and professional development.

Maintains a thorough knowledge of, and follows, all Discipline, Collaborative Care Division, and Department of Psychiatry Mental Health and Wellness Services policies and procedures, as well as those delineated by OMH. Maintains professional standards and continuing education by reading, attending seminars, workshops and conferences, and staying up to date for the NYS requirements for maintenance of licensure as appropriate. Engages in annual and periodic performance review process with Program Director, supervisor, and clinical chief, where relevant, for the purposes of recognition of strengths and contributions, feedback, and continuous qualityimprovement relative to performance in the role as well as the Service needs.

REQUIREMENTS:

Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy or closely related field and major course work in marriage and family theory and practice.

Limited permit is required. License required within 24 months of hire date.

Knowledge about and ability to implement evidence-informed psychotherapeutic interventions;

Commitment to and routine demonstration of biopsychosocial approach to care of individuals and families;

Dedication to delivering a team-based integrated model of care

Demonstrates cultural humility and anti-racism values and works toward ensuring all patients feel welcome.

Requires NYS licensure as Marriage and Family Therapist or limited permit eligible; if licensure has not been attained upon employment, the individual has 24 months to attain NYS license.
