ResponsibilitiesJob Summary:The Technician is responsible for the timely and accurate processing of patient samples, low complexity/automated test analysis and reporting of results for patient samples. He/She is also responsible or instrument maintenance/standardization, daily quality control and adherence to all laboratory policies.Key Responsibilities:
Analyze patient samples using current low complexity laboratory methods/instrumentation (40%)
Performs quality control and quality assurance protocols (20%)
Reports results of patient sample analysis using computer/instrument interface options (20%)
Performs the duties of a Clinical Technologist II as needed (10%)
Answers telephone inquiries (5%)
Performs instrument preventative maintenance as scheduled or needed (5%)

Professional discretion with confidential patient results.
Adherence to all laboratory safety procedures.
Participation in continuing education.
Relationships/Authorities:
Technicians report to the Technical Specialists and Supervisors.
Generally works under the guidance of laboratory supervisors or senior technologists, Pathology residents and/or Faculty.
Education/Experience:
Associate's degree in Medical Technology, Allied Health or a Science required or
Associate's degree in a natural science or clinical laboratory science and coursework acceptable to the NYSED required
Or equivalent combination of education and experience
Clinical Laboratory Technician NYS license eligible upon hire required
Limited Permit (submitted to NYSED) preferred
