Location: Rochester, NY Category: Professional Staff Posted On: Thu Oct 24 2024 Job Description: Function of Position:The Program Director, Software and Information Technology, reports to the Director, Workforce Projects and Operations, Economic & Workforce Development Center/Corporate College in the Economic Development and Innovative Workforce Services (EDIWS) Division and is responsible for the development and management of a portfolio of non-credit and contract credit information and computer technology related programming, courses and certifications. The Program Director works collaboratively with the chair of the Information and Computer Technologies (ICT) department, and local business and industry to determine, develop and deliver training and education programs for client employees and diverse student audiences at the College, especially the Finger Lakes Workforce Development Center (FWD Center) for Industry 4.0 technology. The Program Director also supervises select open enrollment sections targeted for specific IT market segments for technology and vendor-specific certification. A key expectation of the Program Director is the continuous delivery of superior customer service to both internal and external customers and constituents.This is a temporary position that may be renewed annually contingent upon availability of college budget and performance reviews. This position is eligible for paid time off and benefits.Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:

Manages corporate information technology accounts and relationships to foster strong partnerships and repeat business for the College.

Identifies and develops new non-credit and/or academic information technology and Industry 4.0 related program opportunities, manages budgets, and advises the College regarding market demand.

Conducts needs assessments for Economic & Workforce Development Center information technology and advanced manufacturing clients plus the Information and Computer Technologies department to determine appropriate training and academic programs solutions to meet customer needs for IT practitioners and industry technicians.

Develops instructional program solutions or engages appropriate instructional resources with subject matter expertise to design and deliver programs meeting industry and customer information technology.

Develops new and innovative open enrollment content/programming that serves prospective students planning to re-skill/upskill. Also, creates program for secondary students at the high school level with an emphasis on preparing to enter the workforce.

Develops and manages and/or collaborates with Economic & Workforce Development Center program management to create client proposals for IT-related non-credit and academic contract training opportunities.

Maintains relationships with instructional resources and guides instructor implementation of information technology program deliverables.

Serves as liaison with the Information and Computer Technologies department in ongoing analysis and collaborative recommendations for programming in most in-demand IT programming to serve credit and non-credit students.

Partners with the EDIWS VP Office and utilizes the MCC Economic and Workforce Development Center labor market analyses to direct activity in areas of need.

Utilizing a customer relationship management (CRM) methodology, the IT program director works with the established MCC Business and Industry database (Salesforce.com) to maintain client notes, prioritize sectors and log opportunities.

Establishes internship, externship, and other job training opportunities with employer partners.

Participates and supports marketing and outreach activities within the scope of the position.

Works with vendor partners to convey new capabilities and programs.

Provides relevant input to the Director, Finger Lakes Workforce Development (FWD) Center, and other workforce program managers and directors, academic chairpersons, and Economic and Workforce Development Center corporate relations staff, based on employer needs and feedback.

Leads, supports and enhances career exploration activities in the FWD Center and department.

Manages career exploration boot camps and workshops in collaboration with community-based organizations and other partners.

Collaborates with Director, Secondary Partnerships to expand career exploration opportunities for partners schools.

Fosters a team environment within the EDIWS division.

Participates in program evaluation design and implementation.

Identifies and recommends businesses for participation in advisory board capacities for both academic and non-credit programs.

Conducts professional written and oral communications with customers and College departments and personnel.

Secondary Functions:

Participates in the Economic & Workforce Development Center budgetary process.

Participates in EDIWS division planning and strategy meetings.

Collaborates with the Economic & Workforce Development Center's workforce operations team in program initiation, implementation, and completion efforts, including course information data, participant information, registration and evaluation data.

Assists Manager of Education to Employment in placement of successful program completers in local IT positions.

Speaks at various organizations of business leaders and professional societies as appropriate and applicable.

Additional duties as assigned by the Director, Workforce Projects and Operations, Economic & Workforce Development Center/Corporate College.

Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

Earned bachelor's degree in marketing, business, communications, computer science or a related field from a regionally-accredited higher education institution.

Experience in information technology program management with experience creating, instructing, and/or implementing entry-level and higher IT-related instructional programming.

Knowledge of current trends in automation software and IT for Industry 4.0 applications, cloud computing, software development, computer programming, networking, and/or database administration.

Knowledge of artificial intelligence (AI) and cybersecurity.

Strong communication and customer service skills.

Experience with budget planning and administration.

Excellent organizational skills.

Works well both independently and in a team environment.

Excellent project management and problem-solving skills to analyze issues and create action plans.

Ability to adapt to changing work priorities and maintain flexible working hours.

Ability to establish and maintain productive and collaborative relationships.

Preferred Qualifications:

Earned master's degree or higher from a regionally-accredited higher education institution.

Experience working with information technology business units and/or sales with IT-related businesses.

Experience with grant management and/or implementation of grant awards and reporting.

Proficiency in SalesForce.com.

Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish, or other languages, proficiently.

Additional Information:

Salary: Salary is determined based on experience, internal equity and college budget. This position has a range of $68,000 to $83,308 and is based on these mentioned factors.MCC offers a Flexible Work Policy for benefit eligible employees.
