City RochesterState MinnesotaTelecommute NoDepartment Cancer CenterPosition descriptionThe Research Quality Assurance Specialist III works collaboratively with protocol management staff to develop, implement and evaluate the performance of protocol processes and programs. The position assists with development, review and update of department/division materials and review of processes, including IT practices, within the department/division. The position creates measurement tools, system design and standard reports that reflect workload, staff and department goals, as well as delays and progression of the protocol through the development process. In addition, the position collaborates in the evaluation of individual's and department's/division's progress toward attainment of desired outcomes. Individual communicates verbally and through documentation all pertinent reporting information and provides associated follow-up. Responsible for performing quality control and quality assurance reviews of protocols and stages of approvals while developing programs to assure compliance. Position reviews and maintains records, documents trends, interprets data and applies advanced measurement reporting skills using IT systems and other appropriate tools. Individual provides consultative expertise regarding regulatory and policy requirements and works with team members to ensure internal and external processes are established, functioning and consistent with applicable policies and regulatory requirements. Position writes and provides input into standard operating procedures and working instructions and acts as a liaison between Mayo and external/internal organizations while ensuring Mayo standards are adhered to and appropriate approvals have been obtained. Individual develops and carries out staff training and mentoring as necessary and is an active member on committees, task forces and special projects as assigned. In addition, position assists in the preparation for site visits and audits.QualificationsA Master's degree is preferred. A bachelor's degree (BA, BS) in business, nursing, or other health related field, is required. Experience in a research, medical or complex administrative setting required, with experience in quality management or quality assurance methodologies. Experience in educating or training or equivalent required. Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills, maintain confidentiality of information, demonstrate good decision-making and judgment and have attention to detail and follow-through skills. Must have the capacity to comprehend complex structures and connections and be willing to adapt within a rapidly changing environment. Must have the ability to exercise good judgment in ambiguous situations under pressure, and have strong coping skills. Requires exceptional organizational skills and the ability and initiative to prioritize and handle a variety of tasks and assignments simultaneously. Must be proficient in the use of computers, Microsoft applications and databases. Must have demonstrated analytic and problem solving skills and have the ability to effectively manage a large workload independently with minimal supervision.Additional qualificationsPreferred experience in clinical research and/or project or operations management. Recent group and/or individual teaching experience of adults preferred. Advanced IT skills with ability to understand all aspects of protocol management and problem solving is preferred. Past performance should demonstrate effective communications, as well as strong human-relation, organizational and self-directive skills.Exemption status ExemptCompensation DetailEducation, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.
