Location: Rochester, NY Category: Professional Staff Posted On: Thu Mar 21 2024 Job Description: Function of Position:This position participates in the development and execution of a comprehensive admissions and student recruitment program, with specific emphasis on the recruitment, outreach, and enrollment of adult, readmit, and transfer students. The Specialist II will be required to meet and exceed predetermined enrollment goals. The Specialist II participates in advising prospective students, and developing, executing, and assessing recruitment programs on and off campus within their territory, or as assigned. This position assists in the application of technology to support enrollment initiatives, application processing, application review, and the maintenance of an inquiry follow-up system.Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:

This position is designed to achieve specified enrollment goals for adult, readmit, and transfer student populations.

70% of this position includes holding admissions appointments in-person or virtually and assisting students with program selection, career assessment support, and pre-financial aid counseling.

20% of this position includes off-campus recruitment and community outreach, that includes representing MCC at community events, job fairs, and other events within the scope of recruitment of adult students in Monroe and the surrounding counties.

10% of this position includes support for transfer credit evaluation and placement.

Develops and coordinates on- and off-campus activities associated with the recruitment, continuation, and growth of new student enrollment through partnerships with specific community agencies and organizations. This includes admission appointments, presentations, application workshops, etc.

Presents at on-campus information sessions specializing in adult student enrollment.

Travels to off-campus locations to provide recruitment, outreach, and enrollment activities. Travel may include evenings and weekends.

Maintains a thorough knowledge of the college's reentrance requirements, and curriculum, transfer, and placement outcomes of degree programs.

Evaluates and makes decisions on applications for admission, assists with transfer credit, and is responsible for application review from assigned territory.

Monitors current procedures in the application/processing unit to ensure efficiency, clarity of information, and timeliness for managing territory.

Maintains familiarity with the College's non-credit offerings and provides direct enrollment support to noncredit to credit students.

Plans recruitment activities within the assigned territory to reach students who have stopped out.

Assists with and monitors a comprehensive inquiry communication for students who wish to re-enroll at MCC.

Oversees the enrollment for special programs, including Return to Complete and Pathways to MCC.

Meets predetermined enrollment goals for fall and spring semesters, as well as weekly and monthly targets.

Available to meet with students during evening and weekend hours throughout the calendar year, when needed.

Coordinates a tele-counseling program that supports adult prospective students.

Assists in coordinating orientation for adult, transfer, and readmit students.

Assists with technology and software systems that support the effective/efficient management of the College's initiatives in the areas of recruitment, marketing, and admissions processing.

Assumes other assignments as delegated by supervisor.

Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

Earned bachelor's degree in a related field from a regionally-accredited higher education institution

Knowledge of the philosophy of the community college

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working in college admissions

Experience with student information systems (Banner)

Evidence of effective communication (interpersonal, public speaking, and writing) skills

Evidence of a team-centered approach to problem-solving

Commitment to service at the institution

Demonstrated commitment to supporting a multicultural environment on campus

Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish, or other languages, proficiently

A valid New York State driver's license and willingness to travel to recruitment events within Monroe and the surrounding counties

Willingness to regularly work evenings and weekends

Additional Information:

Salary: Salary is determined based on experience, internal equity and college budget. This position has a range of $52,000 to $60,000 and is based on these mentioned factors.MCC offers a Flexible Work Policy for benefit eligible employees.
