Orthodontic Dental Assistant –
Requirements & Experience Minimum Requirements
Availably to work Part-time- 1 to 2 days a Month 7:30am to 6:30pm.
Preferred Experience 1–2 years of Ortho Assisting experience required
Experience with: Bracket bonding & debonding assistance Archwire changes, ligature placement, elastics, separators
Taking alginate and digital impressions Taking panoramic, cephalometric, and intraoral X-rays Orthodontic records (photographs, scans, molds) Fabrication of study models Maintaining orthodontic instruments and supply inventory
Sterilization and operatory turnover Familiarity with orthodontic appliances such as: Expanders Space maintainers
Retainers Bands & brackets Invisalign or clear aligner systems (if applicable)
Key Skills & Competencies Strong attention to detail Ability to follow exact doctor instructions for clinical orthodontic procedures Comfort working with pediatric through adult patients Ability to keep patients calm and educated throughout appointments Strong time-management skills to keep the schedule moving efficiently Positive attitude, team-oriented, and able to work in a fast-paced environment Strong charting and documentation skills Ability to assist with treatment planning, chairside explanations, and patient education
Additional Expectations Maintain a clean, organized orthodontic bay Ensure all instruments, trays, and materials are prepared before patient arrival Communicate clearly with the front desk regarding scheduling needs Follow all OSHA and infection control protocols Participate in continuing education, team meetings, and training sessions Support the doctor with high-quality orthodontic care focused on patient comfort and long-term results Ability to maintain HIPAA compliance High School Diploma or GED Strong communication skills and professional demeanor
Reliable transportation and consistent attendance
