Residential Youth Counselor - SchenectadyJob DetailsJob LocationSchenectady-Park Place - Schenectady, NY Position TypeFull Time Education LevelHigh School/GED Salary Range$17.00 Hourly Travel PercentageNegligible Job ShiftDay/Evening/Overnight Job CategoryNonprofit - Social Services POSITION OVERVIEWResidential Youth Counselor Starting Rate for this role is $17.00/hour A valid, clean driver's license isrequired $1,000 Sign on Bonus for Full-time will receive first half of sign on bonus after completing 90 days of employment and will receive the second half after completing 6 months of employmentThe Residential Youth Counselor positionis responsible for providingdaily therapeutic care and programming according to agency policy and governing bodies' (DSS, OMH, JCAHO, etc.) standards and requirements for elementary aged children. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Must be able to work within trauma informed framework of program, including identifying and using coping/safety plans, maintaining consistency, providing regular routine, and controlling own response to youth
Engage and form positive relationship with all youth served
Complete all mandatory trainings according to programmatic guidelines
Display basic competency in TCI techniques
Follow outlined program routines, therapeutic plans of youth, and program rules and protocols
Work as part of a team including colleague residential counselors, clinicians, on line on call, supervisors, and other administrative and functional support staff
Maintain respectful and appropriate communication with internal and external customers, including county workers, medical staff, parents etc.
Complete and maintain documentation to meet programmatic and regulatory standards
Transport clients for medical, mental health, and other essential needs
Education and/or Experience
HS Diploma/GED required; Associates degree preferred
Must be available to work evenings, weekends, holidays
Experience working with emotionally challengedpopulation
Certification / Licensure
NYS drivers license required
