Good Samaritan University Hospital recently broke ground on its Patient Care Pavilion. This 300,000 square foot addition will be located on the northeast portion of the campus and feature a 75-bay Emergency Department, 16 high-tech replacement operating rooms and three floors of private patient rooms. These expansion plans allow us to continue to provide the highest level of health care while accommodating the growing health care needs of our surrounding Long Island community. Job Details JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides emergency surgery/trauma call coverage, including assessment, surgery if needed, consultation, rounding and follow-up of patients. Fosters teamwork and communication among all internal and external constituencies Provides in-house services as scheduled by the Medical Director or designee. Serves as the attending physician for his/her own patients in the SICU and serves as a consultant when requested. Assists the attending and/or consultant physician in the management of patients in the SICU. In emergent situations in the SICU, when the physician is not the attending or consultant, evaluates and stabilizes patients until an attending or consultant physician can be contacted and/or arrives. Directs the management of such patient until such time as the attending or consultant physician arrives to assume responsibility to direct care. The attending or consultant physician may delegate responsibility to the physician, allowing him/her to continue to direct care for specific patients in the SICU. Evaluates patients in the Medical Center for potential admission to the SICU. Evaluates hospitalized patients who have become unstable and are considered for transfer to the SICU. Responds immediately to assist in the care of critically ill patients anywhere in the Medical Center as requested by an attending or consultant physician. Supervises and assists house staff in the evaluation and management of team care patients. Provides call coverage for all Emergency Department and transfer hotline general surgery consults and admissions and any emergent or urgent general surgery in-patient consults. Provides inpatient management of general emergent or urgent general surgery patients along with outpatient follow up. Provides In-House trauma coverage for Emergency Department and transfer hotline. Provides inpatient management of trauma patients along with outpatient clinic follow up. Provides call coverage for all Emergency Department and transfer hotline general surgery consults and admissions and any emergent or urgent general surgery in-patient consults. Provides inpatient management of general emergent or urgent general surgery patients along with outpatient follow up. Provides In-House trauma coverage for Emergency Department and transfer hotline. Provides inpatient management of trauma patients along with outpatient clinic follow up. Education, Training & Experience: Physician Assistant must be a graduate of a Physician Assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant. Physician Assistant's must have current NCCPA certification. Bachelor's Degree required. NYS licensed with certification. Masters Preferred Certification: Physician Assistant Certified (PA-C) DEA registration required for those with discharge responsibilities. BLS/ACLS/AED training required and accepted from only 2 organizations: American Heart Association - BLS/ACLS for Healthcare Providers (CPR & AED) Program No online programs from any organization will be accepted. Salary Range USD $66.00 - USD $89.00 /Yr. This salary range serves as a good faith estimate and actual pay will encompass a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience and position location. The salary range or rate listed does not include any bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation that may be applicable to this job and it does not include the value of benefits.

Services include: 7+ full-time Medical Oncologists Full-time Breast Surgeon Other on site physician oncology specialties including neuro-oncology and colorectal surgery Onsite supportive care and symptom management specialized physicians Access to the latest research and clinical trials Nurse navigation services to guide patients through their specialized treatment care plan Nutrition and wellness consultations Dedicated oncology specialized Social Workers to support the psychosocial needs of patients Oncology Financial Coordinator to provide assistance and billing support for patients Oncology survivorship program Various support groups comprised of disease specific specialties for both patients and loved ones Job Details The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is an integral part of the delivery of health care and provides for primary care in many ambulatory settings through the CHS Physician Enterprise. The APP provides patient care under the supervision of a qualified physician and is credentialed through the Medical Staff process. DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Participates in and provides clinical care to patients through interview and observation, evaluation and assessment, intervention, planning and written documentation during their visit at the Infusion Center. Initiates selected therapeutic and diagnostic procedures, consultations and laboratory examination, prescribes and alters medication regiments, interprets findings and alters plan of care according to collaborative practice agreement and protocols. Takes initial patient histories and performs physical examinations. Initiates, documents, and communicates the plan of care and follows up to ensure complete screening and preparation of patients. Monitors any and all clinical infusion complications/reactions and responds accordingly in collaboration with nursing staff and physician team. Performs daily patient rounds. Writes orders for medications, laboratory work, and diagnostic tests. Interprets laboratory and test results. Confers with attending physicians, residents, nursing staff, and/or other care providers to ensure optimum quality of patient care. Participates in team meetings and conferences to enhance an interdisciplinary approach amongst clinical providers and patient care.
