Market Risk Specialist

Description Summary: Huntington’s Corporate Risk Management organization is seeking a Market Risk Specialist to join its Market Risk Oversight team. In this role, the candidate will be responsible for assisting with the independent evaluation of market risk, monitoring of Huntington’s market risk exposures, assumption reviews, and data analysis. This position will also be involved in business process improvements, special projects, and other risk management initiatives.Duties and Responsibilities:

Ensure that Interest Rate Risk measurement by the Bank is complete and accurate, by independently monitoring daily positions, key risk drivers and trends, risk exposures above Bank’s appetite and impact of remedial actions, and comparative analyses against Industry practices

Seek to continuously improve Bank’s understanding of Market Risk exposure via development of better analytical tools

Support quarterly risk assessments by providing insightful data analytics and interesting presentations

Be curious and provide effective challenge to risk modeling assumptions through engagement with Corporate Treasury

Verify data and system settings by performing detailed reviews

Coordinate creation of informative and impactful presentations for Committee meetings

Support ad-hoc high priority projects from Senior Management

Perform other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related degree

1-3 years of experience in Treasury, Asset & Liability Management, or Corporate Risk Management/Audit of these areas

Preferred Qualifications:

Strong Microsoft office skills and aptitude to learn other software and data base management tools

Ability to multi-task effectively, be a self-starter, deliver to deadlines, and move work forward with limited direction

Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present ideas clearly and concisely

Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with an understanding of the concept of materiality

Ability to collaborate and foster teamwork in a matrix environment

Ability to build efficient and repeatable processes with a focus on risk management

Produce detailed commodity supply/demand forecasts based on tracking current production and consumption and announced and presumed changes in production or consumption capacity. Construct robust supply curves and quantify the cost to produce for the market\'s incremental supplier, and the cost for each new increment of supply capacity. Maintain a clear understanding of the price-setting mechanism currently working in the marketplace and the key drivers that could change this. Understand the secondary and/or related drivers for each commodity (e.g., by-product economics, co-product economics, etc.) and what effect changes in these drivers would have on Sherwin\'s supply position. Create, maintain, and coordinate vital market intelligence and index data used by the procurement team. Maintain and work with external vendors on the timely renewal of market intelligence contracts and orders.
