Apply knowledge of the fundamentals of configuration management to establish and maintain consistency of a product’s performance, functional, and physical attributes with its requirements, design, and operational information throughout its life. Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Assist with reviewing program-unique specifications to include system specifications, development specifications, and product specifications for both hardware and software, for proper format, content, and compliance with program requirements and appropriate standards; process requests for nomenclature and requests for Computer Program Identification Numbers (CPINs); and track the requests through the appropriate government agencies for responding back to the customer.
Support the configuration control function, to include receipt, dissemination, processing, tracking, and final disposition of Advanced Change Study Notices (ACSN), Engineering Change Proposals (ECP), Contract Change Proposals (CCP), Requests for Deviation/ Waiver (RFD/RFW), Deficiency Reports (DR), airworthiness directive notes, service introductions; review change proposals for thoroughness, configuration and data management impacts and compliance with Government requirements; make appropriate recommendations for Government review and disposition; assist in the preparation and conduct of CCB and business management boards (or their equivalent); assist in maintaining change proposal files; and assist in providing historical information.
Assist in preparing and submitting product data or perform other configuration management activities as required, to include support for CCB Charter development and the administration of Configuration Control Board (CCB) activities.
Plan/implement FCAs and PCAs and confirm the adequacy of data used to support these audits.
Assist in reviewing and evaluating OEM proposals and reports for configuration status accounting of assigned systems/subsystem(s) and compliance with Government technical data requirements.
Assist in maintaining configuration status accounting databases and records to reflect the configuration status of baseline documentation and fielded systems and equipment.
Assist data users and requesters with the selection and tailoring of DIDs; preparation of one-time and standard DIDs; and filling out data management forms such as CDRL and Contractor Data Requirements Substantiation (AF Form 585).
Provide support and expertise to assist in organizing and issuing data calls in support of weapons systems and subsystems. This support shall include drafting of data call letters for Government review and release.
Have understanding of distribution statements and FAR/DFARS data rights clauses; evaluating change proposals for impacts to data; monitoring the delivery and approval of contract technical data to include report generation and follow up actions and record maintenance in the AF Generation, Receiving, Integrated Tracking System (GRITS).
Assist in data reviews. This assistance shall include integrating inputs from Program Office/IPT functionals into draft CDRLs, preparing data review documentation, participating in data reviews, drafting data, reviewing minutes, and following up and maintaining statuses of action items.
Provide assistance in the preparation and maintenance of CDRLs for inclusion in weapon system contractor RFPs, contracts, and contract modifications.
Provide support to the DR function operation of the Joint Deficiency Reporting System (JDRS) or similar system for originating, to include assisting with receiving, processing and tracking DRs; establishing and maintaining DR/Material Improvement Project (MIP) files and databases; providing disposition instruction for exhibits; and assisting in the planning and conduct of MIP Review Board meetings.
Assist by providing engineering data management support for program requirements to include preparing or updating and maintaining any engineering data management plan; establishing and maintaining an engineering data activity file; and providing technical support in the preparation of and conduct of engineering data guidance conferences and engineering drawing In-Process Reviews (IPRs).
Provide configuration/data management-related research, analyses, studies, documentation, briefing development, and assistance in briefing delivery as required to support mission partner activities.
