This Full-stack WordPress Developer should be able to work efficiently both individually and as part of a team. Ultimately, our Developers are expected to help plan and manage the tasks of generating profitable results for our clients, while working with an integrated team of agency professionals.Location: Columbia, SCResponsibilities
Build functional, effective, beautiful websites for clients across many industries
Constantly learn and contribute new approaches to projects and the team
Experiment with new technologies, especially AI and automation
Estimate project scopes, make recommendations, meet deadlines, and work under pressure while juggling multiple projects at the same time
Interface and consult with clients as needed
Rapidly troubleshoot site outages and client emergencies
Be the final stop for technical troubleshooting
Show passion for web development in your communication and deliverables
Review other developer’s code
80% Front-End / 20% Back-end
Vary communication to match audience technical understanding
Interface with clients to field their requests and discuss fixes
Act as a mentor to junior developers
On occasion, be available outside of regular working hours for emergency scenarios and work that requires website downtime
RequirementsGeneral Qualifications:
5+ years in this field / industry (Front and Back -end Development, WordPress, Hosting and Domains)
Version control; merge conflicts; branch management
Managing backups and security
Debugging code you did not write
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong communication skills
WordPress:
Theme and plugin development
Vetting 3rd-party plugins for long-term dependability
Site migrations and multiple dev/stage environments
ACF Pro, Custom Post Types and Taxonomies, Custom User Roles, Alternatives to WP’s built-in search
Front-end:
Semantic HTML
Modern, responsive CSS (flexbox, CSS variables, vendor prefixing, etc.)
SCSS/LESS preprocessors
JS/jQuery
Site builders (Elementor, Divi, etc.)
Browser testing
Great eye for design (Plus: Background in art, graphic design, motion graphics, or similar background)
Back-end:
Setting vision for code architecture and tech stack
PHP
MySQL (especially how WordPress stores data in tables)
Database reconciliation
Mitigating the consequences of upgrading/downgrading versions of languages, plugins, themes, databases
Manage backups and restorations
Hosting and Domains:
90% - Managed hosting (Flywheel, WPEngine, etc.)
