Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical problems on bulldozers, back hoes, track hoes, ect

Repair and replace hydraulic pumps and motors.

-Troubleshoot electronic systems using diagnostic software.

Learning and working with specific caterpillar diagnostic software.

Skills:-Required to have experience with diesel engines od heavy equipment maintenance

Experience using diagnostic software

Experience working with hydraulic systems

  • Nature of Work This is skilled work performing the activities associated with the repair and maintenance a variety of county owned trucks, vehicles and heavy equipment and machinery used for highway operations and road maintenance activities. Additional responsibilities include assisting with diagnosing equipment malfunctions, procuring parts and supplies necessary to perform needed repairs and repairing hydraulic components when necessary. Job responsibilities require considerable knowledge and experience in vehicle repair and maintenance, heavy equipment repair, hydraulics, welding and metal fabrication. Job performance is evaluated by the Shop Foreman through review of knowledge and expertise in equipment repair and maintenance, ability to diagnose and repair equipment and/or machinery in an efficient manner, willingness to perform job assignments and level of support provided for repair shop operations.
