The Senior Financial Accountant is required to look after the WSP statutory entities outside South Africa but within the African continent.Support financial decision-making information by collecting, analyzing, investigating, reconciling, and reporting financial data by collaborating with various stakeholders where necessary.Ensure compliance to relevant laws, regulations and reporting requirements in various countries.Work with financial service providers in various countries to ensure compliance from statutory and financial perspective.Provide the necessary operational assistance to various business unit leads as and when required.Able to travel to various countries to gain a better understanding of local requirements and build a solid working relationship with the various stakeholders and service providers.Ensure monthly financial records are reconciled, supported and be able to present the financial performance to the Finance Director monthly.Key Responsibilities:Ensure accounting records are up to date.Provide support to our African subsidiaries ensuring local compliance, monthly reconciliations are performed, implementation of local operating procedures as well as management of cash flow management, including repatriation of cash to South Africa.Provide assistance with monthly HFM reporting where required.Performing reviews and audits of internal controls to ensure compliance.Perform General Ledger reconciliations and provide meaningful information regarding reconciling items. Long and unusual items are identified, and appropriate action are taken.Analyze and interpret data to provide financial management information for decision-making.Prepares monthly statements by collecting data; analyzing and investigating variances; summarizing data, information, and trends.Responds to financial inquiries by gathering, analyzing, summarizing, and interpreting data.Preparation of forecasts and budgetsVerify supporting documentation for validity, accuracy and completeness and capture transactions on the accounting system.Manage interface exceptions effectively and ensure that appropriate, timely actions are taken.Inter-company transaction reconciliation and review.Managing payment processes in accordance with country legislationAssist in various operational requirements in country for employees/ contractorsInvestigate and advise on in country requirements for various operational requirementsEnsure annual financial statements are prepared and approved timeously.Managing local financial service providers in countryEnsuring tax and statutory compliance with relevant country legislationEnsue all work is carried out in accordance with the departmental, company processes and procedures.Assist in the intercompany reconciliations and paymentsAssist in monthly and year-end closure process.Assistance with internal and external audits.Ad hoc accounting projects.Health and Safety:Role model standards for SHEQ performance and behaviour consistent with the company’s health, safety, environmental and quality vision, and policies by influencing those around youContributing to the identification of SHEQ risks and driving processes to achieve Zero HarmEmbracing, displaying, and promoting the company values and ensuring a safe working environment is always maintained
