The successful candidate for this position will have the opportunity to join UTA during an exciting period of growth and contribute as the university broadens its impact.Job SummaryTo provide advanced animal husbandry and veterinarian support for the humane care and treatment of all research animals in the central UT Arlington Animal Care Facility and remote satellite facilities.Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Perform animal husbandry and janitorial duties in the animal facility as assigned.

Assist veterinarian and facility manager in evaluating and maintain the health of animals and relevant health records.

Provide assistance in surgical and diagnostic procedures on animals.

Assist facility manager in maintaining inventory of supplies and equipment, and in preparation of reports and cost analysis.

Complete additional duties as assigned by the facility manager.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED.

Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the care of animals in a laboratory facility.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science or equivalent.

Certification as a Laboratory Animal Technologist by the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge and understanding of, along with the ability to meet and exceed, the AWA, OLAW, and USDA guidelines.

Willingness to work in an animal research facility and provide superior customer service to research staff working in the facility.

Ability to read and follow all SOP’s and Quality Assurance Standards.

High attention to detail.

Ability to consistently complete respective tasks.

Professional capacity for teamwork and collaboration.

Must be able to lift a maximum of 50lbs; bend, stoop, climb and stand for a prolonged period .

Work is performed mostly in an animal laboratory facility setting.

Working conditions may involve disagreeable elements.

Prolonged standing, lifting and stooping.

Wearing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be required.

Some exposure to bio-chemicals and microbes.
