Assistant Controller

Description We are in search of an Assistant Controller to join our team based in Austin, Texas. The role involves overseeing compliance with IFRS and US GAAP, managing the implementation of new accounting standards, and preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. You will also be responsible for coordinating the external audit process and managing North American tax planning strategies.Responsibilities: Expertly oversee and ensure compliance with IFRS and US GAAP, providing guidance on complex accounting issues. Manage the successful implementation of new accounting standards and policies. Prepare and review financial statements on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis to ensure accuracy and compliance. Lead the external audit process, preparing audit schedules and supporting documents. Handle Tax and compliance workstreams, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations. Work closely with external tax advisors to ensure timely and accurate tax reporting. Strategize on North American tax planning, ensuring the minimization of tax liabilities and maximization of tax credits and incentives. Stay updated on changes to tax laws and regulations, ensuring compliance and providing recommendations to management. Assist with the month-end closing process and review final Payroll reconciliations. Manage the day-to-day accounting functions, including overseeing entry level accounting staff. Maintain compliance with internal policies and relevant external regulations. Requirements

Minimum of 5+ years of experience in accounting, with at least 3 years audit experience or in an assistant controller role or similar capacity.

Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems is necessary Familiarity with ADP - Financial Services is required Practical knowledge of Concur is expected Ability to use Crystal Reports is a must Understanding of DCAA regulations is essential Proficiency in executing Accounting Functions is necessary Hands-on experience with Accounts Payable (AP) is required Proven ability in handling Accounts Receivable (AR) is expected Prior experience in Auditing is a must Competency in managing Billing Functions is essentialRobert Half is the world’s first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies. This includes performing or preparing procedures that do not require veterinarian or veterinary technician assistance, completing preparatory work for other procedures, ensuring that clients and pets are comfortable in the hospital, and monitoring hospitalized or surgical pets as allowed in the state practice acts.  Educate clients about Optimum Wellness Plans, preventive care, pet health needs, hospital services and other issues.  Obtain relevant information and history from clients and maintain proper and complete medical charts.  Ensure the safety of pets, clients and associates by utilizing safe restraining techniques, following standard protocols, and maintaining clean, sterile and organized treatment areas, exam rooms and labs.  Assist with surgery as applicable.  Utilize technical skills to the fullest, within state practice acts and as outlined in the NAVTA guidelines for veterinary assistant skills and duties.  Mentor other paraprofessionals in the hospital.  Other job duties as assigned.
