Principal Program Manager, E-Commerce

Job DescriptionOwns key programs and projects to drive critical business inputs to Whole Foods Market’s ecommerce channels such as channel strategy, selection, catalog, inventory, pricing, capacity, fulfillment and customer care. Drives programmatic improvements and best-in-class customer experience across Whole Foods Market delivery, pick-up, holiday ordering and catering. Leads program definition and execution in partnership with merchandising, marketing, operations, finance and technology. Monitors the online grocery industry, providing thought leadership and innovation to drive the evolution of grocery ecommerce at Whole Foods Market and Amazon.

Acts as strategic owner for designated Ecommerce programs, initiatives, and projects.

Responsible for managing the planning, execution and delivery of assigned program to achieve customer, business and financial results.

Recommends and builds business cases to support the prioritization of new projects and strategies to drive program results.

Works cross-functionally with partners in Operations, Merchandising, Technology and/or Marketing to define program strategy and execution.

Creates and ensures effective execution of cross-functional project and program teams, including:

Establishing project strategy and objectives,

Creating and managing timelines,

Creating and managing budgets,

Ensuring appropriate communication and information sharing,

Determines metrics and analyzes program results; makes data-based recommendations for the next program evolution.

Drives business operational cadence for assigned programs and projects, including weekly business reviews, monthly/quarterly business reviews, and annual operating plans.

Develops annual plans for assigned programs and projects, including financial targets, input and output goals, and required investment.

Supports leadership efforts to identify, assess, and hire new TMs.

Helps with TM on-boarding, training, and development.

Provides program and project leadership on various ecommerce initiatives.

Skills

Strong understanding of Ecommerce and retail strategy, planning, and execution.

Strong quantitative, financial and business acumen with experience building financial models and defining and vetting assumptions.

Strong analytical skills with a knack for interpreting trends and data, and making informed projections/assertions.

Leads and facilitates discussions, debates and decision-making process with cross-functional partners and senior leadership.

Excellent interpersonal communication skills and levels of tact, diplomacy and confidentiality.

Communicates structured information in a clear, concise, and organized fashion.

Collaborates with others to achieve objectives and insure information flow.

Able to effectively present information and respond to questions in both one-on-one situations and group meetings.

Able to communicate effectively with senior management stakeholders

Participates in and provides senior-level support to team and cross-functional program stakeholders.

Impacts overall team effectiveness.

May provide informal support to less experienced Team Members.

Builds and nurtures relationships with senior- level stakeholders and leaders.

Advanced understanding of standard project and/or product management methodologies and requirements.

Advanced ability to plan, estimate, organize, and monitor projects.

Ability to oversee and advise on project management issues and assist with overcoming barriers.

Ability to keep multiple projects on track financially, strategically and in accordance with stakeholder deadlines

Understands customer, market, and industry trends and emerging challenges.

Applies business and program understanding to focus team efforts.

Demonstrates excellent knowledge of the WFM product mix, supply base, and retail operations.

Education & Experience

BA/BS degree and 6-8years’ relevant experience OR equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

May have a graduate degree
