Staff Database Software Engineer

Job DescriptionKey Responsibilities:

Migration of critical database applications from on-premises to hybrid or cloud environment.

Experience with database concepts, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis

Design and implement high availability and disaster recovery solutions

Performance tuning of applications and coaching team members on this aspect

Full lifecycle application development using standard frameworks and coding standards/patterns

Ensure that the technical documentation is comprehensive and adheres to established compliance standards, facilitating ongoing maintenance. i.e. configuration guides, install guides meet requirements

Work closely with software engineers and architects as well as DBAs to gain additional knowledge and expertise.

Proactively engage in the remediation of software issues such as code quality, pattern mismatch, and security issues related to the code/configuration

Experience with GM Manufacturing concepts like trace capture, defect management, and end of line data quality assurance.

Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related fields, or equivalent experience.

Minimum 7 years of professional experience developing database design and architecture, along with full cycle software development experience

Experience monitoring, analyzing and optimizing database performance on various platforms (eg: Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQL Server etc)

Exceptional diagnostic skills identifying and troubleshooting performance bottlenecks along with recommending and implementing optimal solutions

Solid grasp of software development best practices, including requirements analysis, strategic planning, coding standards adherence, thorough code reviews, testing proficiency, and streamlined CI/CD implementation.
